The Commissioner of the Revenue’s office is responsible for screening and processing Virginia state income tax returns for all citizens of Alleghany County. Returns are checked for errors and/or missing information. When errors are found, the taxpayer is notified by letter or by phone so that they may correct their return before it is sent to the Department of Taxation in Richmond.
