SANITATION WORKER I – FULL TIME

(FLSA: Non-Exempt)

Pay range starting at $38,663.63 Annually

Pay dependent upon experience

Alleghany County Public Works is currently seeking a motivated individual to join our sanitation team. As a sanitation employee, you will be responsible for the collection and disposal of solid waste. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the County’s streets and neighborhoods.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collection and disposal of solid waste from residential and commercial properties.
  • Monitoring and reporting any issues related to sanitation services, such as overflowing dumpsters or damaged equipment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify potential safety hazards.
  • Communicates with the general public and provides assistance with refuse for handicap customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Familiarity with heavy machinery and equipment operation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The working conditions are typically outdoor, requiring long hours and physical labor. Workers may be exposed to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snowfall. Noise, dust, and odors can also be common in this line of work.

PART-TIME MAINTENANCE TECH I 

No Benefits

Beginning rate of pay $20.00 per hour

 Pay dependent upon experience

Alleghany County Public Works is accepting applications for a part-time Maintenance Tech I position. Successful applicant will be required to assist in mowing of water and wastewater pump station, brush haulage, weed-eating, and other duties as assigned. Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license.

PARAMEDIC/FIREFIGHTERS

$53,000 Starting Salary

The Department of Public Safety is currently seeking individuals for Paramedic/Firefighter positions.  Preferred 2 years experience as a field Paramedic.  No Firefighter training is required, but preferred.
