PARKS & RECREATION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

FULL-TIME

POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Alleghany County is accepting applications for a full time Parks and Recreation Maintenance Technician.  The successful candidate will be required to perform maintenance tasks at parks, athletic fields, Governmental Complex, Senior Centers, Jackson River Scenic Trail and various other sites throughout the County.  Qualifications shall include general knowledge and experience in maintenance activities (i.e., operation of commercial mowing equipment, hand tools, trimmers, chainsaws, tractors etc.), high school graduate or equivalent, hold a valid Virginia driver’s license, must be able to lift at least 100 lbs., and must be able to perform extended periods of physical activity. Maintenance Technician II Position in the Alleghany County Regional Jail

(FLSA: Non-Exempt)

Pay scale range $35,750 – $50,000 annually

Pay dependent upon experience

 Alleghany County Public Works is accepting applications for a Maintenance Tech II – this position will work directly at the Alleghany County Regional Jail. Under the general guidance of the Assistant Director of Operations, the Maintenance Technician II will be responsible for the daily and scheduled preventative maintenance of certain systems, repairs, minor modifications and construction of the Jail and performs essential job functions to ensure a clean and safe working environment. The person in this position works Monday – Friday, mostly days, and will have on-call responsibilities.

Senior Center Van Driver

Part-Time

Open Until Filled

Alleghany County is looking for an energetic professional with a passion for helping others through senior services. This position will transport seniors from their home to senior centers around the local area as well as local and out of town trips using 15 passenger vans.  This position will assist seniors to and from their home and assist them into and out of the vans.  Will be responsible for meal pick up and delivery to centers, vehicle cleaning and vehicle logs.  Positive people skills are essential. Must utilize effective communication.  Must be able to work with partner organizations.  Hours vary primarily Monday through Friday up to 25 hours per week.  May be less initially since the programs are just restarting after COVID.

Possession of a valid appropriate driver’s permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Assistant Director of Operations (FLSA – Exempt)

Pay scale range $61,000 to $90,7500 annually

This position will oversee divisions include Water and Sewer (Distribution, Storage, Collections and WW Treatment), Solid Waste (Collections, Transfer Station, Bulk, Recycling, Disposal, Brush and Waste Tires) and General Services (Facilities, Fleet, Warehouse, Joint Services). The core areas in these divisions include Safety, Planning, Projects, Professional Development, Personnel, Budget/Expenditures, Procurement, and Programs. The position will have direct supervision of three division managers and indirect supervision of multiple employees.
